Linaro is a non-profit organisation that aims to help making open-source embedded software and apps, development easier and faster.
Linaro is sponsored by ARM, Freescale, IBM, Samsung, ST-Ericsson and Texas Instruments.

When comes to open-source, the first thing that comes to my mind is Linux – so they are about to help improving linux to match embedded hardware profiles. And next we may observe they wont have any headaches walknig on this road as we know proved linux portability – see Google’s Android architecture, based on linux kernel,  the Motorola A1212 running linux OS or the MeeGo . Linux can fire them all.

One again thanks Mr. Torvalds! Down here is the organisation chart:

Last week a Google staff representant announced “We don’t feel so good about it” – regarding Microsoft’s Windos OS. Then another guy workig there said for Financial Times: “We’re not doing any more Windows. It is a security effort…Linux is open source and we feel good about it” – yeah I love that sentence.
Detailed article here.

Then Microsoft replyed: Windows and Security: Setting the Record Straight , in their corporatist way, inherited from Billl – we already know you feel proud about it. So talking about Windows security let me reccomend this blog post regarding a Window 7 hack!

It doesn’t seem to be a long fight, not as long as Apple vs. Adobe – but a good icing on the cake. And another punch below the belt for Microsoft.
